University of North Texas The North Texan

At UNT, our campus continues to change, from record-breaking fall enrollment (more than 39,000 students) to awesome new facilities like Discovery Park's biomedical addition and the 580-bed Joe Greene residence hall. And the North Texan is changing too. This fall, we've rolled out a brand-new look for our magazine with a new modern masthead and more white space and larger images and illustrations on the pages. The updates complement last year's revamped website that focused on making our storytelling more visual with videos and other multimedia for increased interaction, readability, accessibility and sharing.

Of course, it's no surprise UNT is rolling with the times -- we are, after all, known for our tenacity. That's evident from cover to cover in this issue, whether you're reading about alums whose perseverance helped them overcome the seemingly insurmountable, researchers who are determined to combat some of today's most pressing problems or students who are carving unique paths.

We hope you enjoy the redesign and the magazine as a whole -- let us know what you think by emailing northtexan@unt.edu or tweeting us @northtexan.

Alumni Spotlight

Joe Greene

He's one of the NFL's greatest players, but nowhere is his legacy more obvious than on the UNT campus. This fall, students moved into a residence hall bearing Greene's name, and at each home game, Mean Green attendees stream past a statue erected in his honor. As his legend continues to grow, the UNT alum and Hall of Famer reflects on his life and offers new Eagles advice for success at his alma mater.
