University of North Texas The North Texan

Education is a lifelong endeavor. At UNT, we know that on the road to achievement, learning from mistakes is a necessary step to experiencing success.

Through a wealth of available resources and opportunities, our students and alumni are prepared to navigate any hurdles they may encounter on the way to attaining their goals. They include UNT senior KeAyla Dove, an applied arts and sciences major who is on the path to compete this summer in the 2024 Olympic Trials, and College of Music alumna Annie Ray ('17), who won the 2024 Grammy Music Educator of the Year Award.

Reflecting on his professional journey, UNT President Neal Smatresk -- who in August will leave the presidency and return to teaching -- reminds us, "Each failure is just another step toward success."

Cover Story

Learning to Fail

UNT is preparing the future leaders of tomorrow, not only through the education received in the classroom, but beyond. That starts the day they step on campus, as students explore their interests and career opportunities through career readiness seminars, including navigating the resources available to them while they study. Students also have access to three comprehensive career centers on two campuses, dedicated career coaches and designer degrees where they build their own program of study. "Instead of just going into it blindly, UNT does a great job at providing these resources for us so we're ready," says Arsalan Nazari, a senior in the project design and analysis program at UNT at Frisco.
