UNT Research: Making an Impact

UNT's IMPACT REPORT was launched last year. This online report reflects the many impacts UNT is having on the region and the world. Taking researchers' knowledge from the labs to the marketplace, UNT's Office of Research and Innovation is making an impact in biomedical engineering, additive manufacturing, biobased products, big data, the environment and logistics.

Arts integration: a2ru IMPACT: By the Numbers

UNT faculty have earned numerous accolades — from membership in the National Academies and fellowships with Fulbright and Guggenheim to NSF CAREER Awards and Pulitzer and Grammy nominations. Here's a snapshot:

Top Researchers
  • 4: UNT has one member of the National Academy of Engineering, one member of the National Academy of Sciences and two members of the National Academy of Inventors.
  • 13: UNT has 13 National Science Foundation CAREER Award recipients, given to researchers on the rise.
  • 1,900: UNT has 1,900 talented faculty members, many who are experts in their fields and have earned honors such as National Science Foundation CAREER awards, Fulbrights and Guggenheim fellowships, National Medal of Arts honors, and Grammy, Emmy and Pulitzer nominations.
  • 37: UNT faculty researchers have earned 37 new patents since 2000, and with an increased emphasis on innovation and commercialization more are on the horizon. During the past few years, UNT has expanded opportunities for students interested in entrepreneurship through its formal curriculum and other programs.
