Last month, the Jim McNatt Institute for Logistics Research celebrated the 20th anniversary of UNT's logistics program and the expansion of the Complex Logistics Systems Laboratory, which provides unique technology capabilities for students and faculty to help meet industry demands by solving logistics and transportation challenges. In the mid-1990s, businesses were forced to look outside of Texas for college graduates with a solid grasp of logistics. UNT's Ron Hasty, a now-retired professor of marketing, filled that void by launching UNT's logistics degree program — now a nationally ranked program.

The annual logistics transportation breakfast during the Byron Nelson golf tournament is set for May 20 at the Big Brothers Big Sisters headquarters in Irving. Business leaders from Stifel, American Airlines, Cargo, Daeske Inc., BNSF Railways and others discuss the role of logistics in the Dallas-Fort Worth area's growing economy.
